Our project participant Jelena Tšekulajeva took part in the Connected Audience conference organised by the Institute for Research on Cultural Participation and the Institute for Learning Innovation. Held biannually, the event convenes cultural professionals, researchers, and policymakers to engage in discussion about how to build and engage audiences in cultural organisations.
At the conference, Jelena presented the Museum Laboratory and Kitchen talks, created in the framework of MeM. The experimental exhibition developed by the Tallinn City Museum and the Estonian team of art mediators is in its essence a tool to engage and communicate with the audience, building a meaningful relationship between people and institution.
Jelena notes that it was a great chance to present the work of the Tallinn City Museum and MeM project, meet colleagues from all over the world and hear about their practices. It was also rewarding to ponder and discuss important topics such as cultural institutions’ public value and relevance, and their role as actors in bringing about social change and enhancing societal wellbeing.
The keynotes from the conference are available online.
