Lecture with Ikram Abdulkadir
Ikram Abdulkadir, born in 1995 in Nairobi, is a photographer and poet who runs the instagram account @ikramianism. Ikram’s pictures have been published in magazines such as The Guardian, Vice Arabia, Paletten and VOKS. Ikram Abdulkadir was the recipient of the 2019 Sven and Ellida Hjort scholarship exhibition, which is awarded annually by the Skåne Art Association to a young promising artist based in Skåne.
The lecture will be about Ikram’s art as a person of color from a working-class background and how she navigates in it. It will also be about so-called DIY photography and using platforms such as Instagram to reach out with your art.
